What is Micro-Needling and its Benefits?

Micro-needling is an innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of wrinkles, acne scars, hypertrophic scars, melasma, periorbital melanosis (darkness around eyes), stretch mark, androgenetic alopecia, and enlarged pores. During this procedure, tiny disposable needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries. The micro-channeling causes the release of growth factors that promote scar-less healing. Normal woven collagen rather than scar collagen is deposited at the treated site. Collagen formation through normal wound healing process (inflammation, proliferation, remodeling) can be seen in 12 weeks. After micro-needling treatment, slight edema (swelling) which resolves in 24 hours and mild erythema (redness) lasting 2-4 days is expected. Usually the number of sessions and the interval between sessions are dependent on the skin condition.

Why do You Need Facial Double Cleanse

As the name suggests, double cleansing is a two step process: first skin is washed with an oil-based cleanser, then with a water- or surfactant-based cleanser. How Laser Skin Rejuvenation Works?

Improving the appearance of aging skin by reducing wrinkles and skin laxity has always been a goal. The method works by using high power microsecond pulses at high repetition rates to safely heat the dermis (deeper layer of skin) activating the body's wound repair response, stimulation of fibroblast activity, and collagen reformation. A unique microsecond non-ablative 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser is a safe treatment method of skin rejuvenation.

Sensitive and Sensitized Skin

A true sensitive skin condition is caused by a genetic predisposition. Someone who is truly sensitive is born with this condition and tends to be prone to blushing, asthma and allergies. This skin is considered more delicate with less melanin or pigment, a thin epidermis and blood vessels close to the skin surface, hence the obvious appearance of redness. Sensitive skin is often the result of a defect in the skin’s protective outer layer – known as the epidermal lipid barrier layer – allowing irritants, microbes and allergens to penetrate the skin and cause adverse reactions. A disturbed epidermal lipid barrier is an important component in several inflammatory skin diseases such as rosacea, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and eczema.

How The Hair Growth Cycles Effect Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment

Hair Growth CyclesThere are three stages of hair growth:Stage 1 – Anagen : This stage is the beginning phase of hair growth. This is when the hair is visible above the skin and is still attached to the papilla. The papilla is a knoblike vascular indentation of the bottom of the hair follicle on which the hair bulb fits. (Definition courtesy of dictionary.com) This hair growth Anagen phase is ideal for laser hair removal because since it is still attached to the papilla the laser can attack the papilla and prevent any new growth. This stage usually lasts for about 2-3 weeks and occurs for both facial and body hair.
